A special congratulations to Craig Philbeck on his recent, successful promotion to yondan (the 4th degree black belt in Kendo) at the 2011 SEUSKF Tournament in Nashville. Mr. Philbeck has trained hard for over ten years with the Charlotte Kendo Club and will continue to serve the dojo well in his new capacity. Congratulations to Philbeck-sensei!

Honored visit!

The Charlotte Kendo Club was extremely honored to be visited by Yoshiyuki Ohta sensei (Kendo Kyoshi 8 dan). Ohta sensei had previously visited the southeast as a teacher for the National Summer Camp in 2007, and had paid Charlotte a visit during October of that same year. This time we were most fortunate to have Ohta sensei visit us once more for an entire week. We are grateful to Ohta sensei for sharing his time and expertise with us.
